Well, I finally got to play the Moog One at the Moog pop-up event a couple nights ago, and I must say I am now a believer. I haven't heard any YouTube videos that sound remotely like what I was able to get out of it within two minutes, but to be fair I have little interest in lush vintage pads or Tomita-style arpeggios. But with a few twists of the knobs from an Init patch I was wallowing in 48-oscillator, dual-filter, unison-bass heaven.
The power... oh god the low-end unison-stacked power that thing is capable of. Very impressive. Second to none.
There's obviously still some rough spots - unexpected behavior from the sequencer, etc., but I have confidence these issues will be resolved. Sonically it's not quite that always-distorting-internally thing that I always loved about the
Memorymoog, but it is still absolutely a monster. And the build quality and knob feel just scream luxury.
The Rolls Royce Phantom of synthesizers, no doubt. (With a price to match.)
Well done Moog.
