It's been two weeks since my last email to you, and the reason for that is I wanted to have some more substantial news for you. And I have just that.
There has been great progress on the VCC. We have some of the consoles in our new framework prototyping system and have finalized the plan for oversampling, which was a complex task. You can be assured that you will not have to mess with oversampling options, and that the sound of the VCC will be optimized automatically. We are also making great progress on the GUI and I think you're gonna love how it has improved. Not sure if I mentioned this, but you'll have an input AND output knob on both channel and mixbuss, you'll have a link knob to saturate the channel and mixbuss easier (which will sound different than just pushing the drive), and the grouping system is so much slicker and easier. So... here goes something bold. I've spoken to my team and we have set a goal to get VCC 2.0 out in December. I think we can achieve this because we have some great guys dedicated to it, have even more potential hires in the next two weeks, and because things are running smoothly thus far. If something unpredictable happens that changes this confidence, you will know immediately. But fingers are crossed.
FG-X 2.0 is also going really well. This is not just gonna be an update, this is gonna be something special. The entire FG-Level is being recreated with a new algorithm. The goal of this new algo is to have the be-all end-all loudness enhancement for ANY type of music. Fabrice is extremely excited about it, as it is the sum of years of steady research. While Fabrice continues to work on the new algo, the Slate dev team is getting the FG-Comp and FG-Meters modules into the new framework, which has been going very well. GUI for these modules has already begun, and we'll also be giving it a slight facelift. Since the FG-Level new algo is not finished yet, it would not be possible for me to give a projected release schedule, but I assure you that as soon as I have more information, I'll be letting you know.
I know that this wait is aggravating, and believe me, it's caused me quite a lot of stress. However, I'm happy that my team is fully dedicated to working on these plugins to get them done as soon as possible. As I've said in past emails, Slate Digital has put major new projects on hold and will focus solely on the VCC and FG-X 2.0 updates. We hope the quality of these updates will make up for this long wait. My email is a bit backed up again, but I'll try to catch up this coming weekend.
Cheers,
Steven Slate
