Important !
Buffering Settings in Reaper need to be set to.
1: Ensure all Logical Cores are assigned , can be left to Auto.
1: Threading Priority : Highest ( recommended )
2: Behaviour: 3 - Default on later versions.
Earlier versions defaulted to 4. This was a change that improved the reserved resource levels of the session, which was exhausted on larger core/memory systems at idle due to Reapers caching algorithims over extending the resources assigned.
Disable media buffering for tracks with open MIDI editor : ticked.
3: Anticiptive FX Processing : ticked.
4: Allow on tracks wthout FX : ticked
5: Allow live FX multiprocessing on all available Logical Cores.
Test Preparation :
1. Unzip the downloaded file preferably to an Audio Streaming HD
2. PC : Unzip and copy the appropriate ReaXComp Plugin .dll to a shared VST PlugIn folder , or install the Shattered Glass Audio SGA1155 Plugin.
MAC: Install the Shattered Glass Audio SGA1155 Plugin.
To run the test :
Load the session, adjust the mixer until the insert channels become visible.
While the session is playing, progressively turn on the first insert plugin on each channel- going horizontally across from channel 1-40/80, this will distribute the load more evenly. Note: The method of activating the plugins varies between applications, check the correct procedure for the respective app. If/When you reach the 40/80th Sine channel , scroll back to the first Sine channel and activate the second insert plugin, and then move on to the next Channel and do the same, etc. Continue until you clearly hear audio breakup. At that point solo the Monitor Channel, raise the fader double check for any breakup. Remove some plugins until no audio breakup is heard, and then reactivate the plugins again if possible.
The Test Session will take a few minutes per latency setting to complete.
It has also been noted that results may vary on consecutive runs with certain audio cards. At each latency setting, it is required to run the session at least 2 times , each time exiting out of the application and then re-starting the App, loading the session again, and running thru the test. Report any variance .
