Steinberg Media Technologies has announced the upcoming release of Nuendo 8. At next week's 2017 Game Developers Conference, taking place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA, United States, Steinberg will be showing the first preview of Nuendo 8 at the Audiokinetic booth, no. 524 South Hall.

In the previous version, Nuendo introduced Game Audio Connect, providing a new set of tools that lets Nuendo integrate directly with Audiokinetic's Wwise audio middleware solution, exporting mixdowns to Wwise, and version-controls projects by Perforce. With Nuendo 8, Steinberg now takes the next step and enhances this toolset: Game Audio Connect 2 provides an interactive music workflow by taking entire music compositions from Nuendo and handing these over to Wwise, including audio and MIDI tracks along with cycle and cue markers. Thanks to the close connection between both applications, Nuendo can now also be used as MIDI editor for Wwise.

Greatly expediting workflows, Nuendo 8 features Direct Offline Processing with its Live.Rendering capability, allowing users to easily apply frequently used processes in an offline plug-in chain and render offline processes in real time. Another highlight is Auto ReNamer that automatically assigns new names to all events, which is another common workflow in game audio.

Nuendo 8 lays emphasis on sound design, providing users with the necessary tools to create and manipulate audio. The Sound Randomizer plug-in creates different variations of a sound instantaneously, adjusting its pitch, timbre, impact and timing. The newly introduced Sampler Track is an easily accessible tool that allows users to drag and drop audio from the MediaBay into the track and play and manipulate the sample. Also included is the virtual-analog Retrologue 2 synthesizer, HALion Sonic SE 3, over 80 effects processors, including the new eight-band fully parametric Frequency EQ, and an assortment taken from the 2017 Hybrid Library by Pro Sound Effects, plus the newly developed video engine that replaces the former QuickTime-based engine.

Steinberg's Senior Marketing Manager, Timo Wildenhain, comments: "We're delighted to be presenting Nuendo 8 at next week's GDC, and that we've the opportunity to team up again with our dear friends at Audiokinetic. While we're aiming to release this latest iteration of Nuendo in June, it was important to us to unveil the new version earlier on at GDC. And there'll be other events leading up to the release date where Nuendo 8 will be showcased as well."

Metaplugin 2.6.7 update
just a quick announcement regarding the latest Metaplugin update v2.6.7: as always, it is available from. It adds Meldaproduction VST/VST3 sidechain support and increased stability under ProTools. This time, however, I've also had to make a small change to the license file system, so please, along with the full version, also download the license.zip file (the link will be in the email together with the full version link) and unzip it. Metaplugin will ask for a new license file upon the first start, just point it to the new license.txt file you've saved, that's it.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks to (almost) all of you for doing the right thing and not using cracked software. You rock!

Steinberg Media Technologies has released VST SDK 3.6.7 (build 352). This maintenance release is mainly a preview version for Linux support.

A brief overview of changes:

  • Preview Linux support.
  • Licensing has changed. Please read the new VST 3 License.
  • Use cmake as project generator.
  • This is the last version of the SDK supporting C++98, future versions will used C++11.
  • The VST 3 part of this SDK is now available on GitHub at https://github.com/steinbergmedia/vst3sdk

Madrona Labs - обновления для всех трёх плагинов (Aalto, Kaivo, Virta), наконец коснулись темы жручести (больное место мадроно-плагинов).

SynthMaster One updated to v1.0.3
New Hardstyle factory presets by The Machine
This month we released our first update for SynthMaster One: v1.0.3

This update bring new factory presets and new features, as well as bug fixes:
  • SynthMaster One now supports MIDI Program Change and MIDI Bank Changes messages. Users can easily assign selected presets to MIDI banks by right clicking on the presets list and assigning them to a MIDI bank.
  • Added user manual, written by Bulent Biyikoglu and Ronan Macdonald.
  • Added preset search textbox and button to the browser.
  • Add 50 new hardstyle factory presets, designed by The Machine
  • Pressing espace key quits SynthMaster One standalone app
  • Selecting wavetables from dropdown lists causes crash in Bitwig Studio DAW

The version 1.7.1 update adds new Chaotic Hall and Chaotic Chamber reverb modes, the results of a thought experiment: what would “old school” digital reverb algorithms sound like if they were made using tape delays?


The “chaotic” aspects of Chaotic Hall and Chaotic Chamber:

  • The saturation and pre/de-emphasis are based on tape delays, with a higher internal drive level than the other VintageVerb algorithms.
  • The digital quantization noise of the “Dirty” algorithms in VintageVerb has been replaced by tape modulation noise, which results in a more broadband spread of frequencies as the reverb decays.
  • The “random walk” used for chorusing in most of the VintageVerb algorithms has been replaced by a more “chaotic” modulation source. The “chaotic” modulation is closer to the wow/flutter/tape crinkle noise that can be heard in tape echoes, where the wear and tear of the tape loops results in a distinctive pitch modulation.
Chaotic Hall is fairly close to Dirty Hall in its basic structure, just with “chaotic” elements. Chaotic Chamber is closer to the Smooth algorithms, but with the “digital” artifacts of the Smooth algorithms replaced with “analog” artifacts. Chaotic Chamber also adds some unique signal dependent diffusion parameters, which results in a clearer sounding reverb tale.

When I was adding the chaotic algorithms to VintageVerb, I presumed that the results would be closer to the dark murkiness of tape delays. It turns out that adding chaos to these algorithms resulted in more clarity and transparency in many cases. There are definitely tape-esque artifacts in the decay, but the analog-style saturation reduces ringing in the tail, and the tape chorusing results in less random pitch shifts than the random walk modulation used in the other modes.

VintageVerb now also features a new GUI option to the NOW Color mode, allowing for a dark background.

LiquidSonics has updated Reverberate to v2.200
Changes in v2.200:
