I just got a DL251.
I already had DL16 and Wing.
I will do audio measurements with APx555 in the next weeks in order to really compare audio performances, THD+N, Noise, bandwith, crosstalk, CMRR etc... on inputs/outputs and finally give a true comparison with professionnal audio measurement equipment.
What I have seen up to now without any measurement is that the converters AD and DA are equivalent but not the same. On DL 16, there are CS5368 and CS4398 compared to M8000 and M9000 on the DL251 from 2022. My DL16 is old so, it is possible that the new DL16 have the same M8000 and M9000. But, these circuits are equivalent, pin/pin compatible and the performances are equivalent.
On the preamp circuit, the major difference I can see is the PNP front end transistors which a not the same.
BC640 for DL16 vs A1268 for DL251.
These should be low noise devices.
Also, the quality on the capacitors in the signal path are not the same.
All JAMICON for DL251, Chineese ones for DL16.
The Opamps are more or less equivalent. 4580 only for DL16, and 4580 + MC33079 for DL251.
I did not measure the power supplies but they look different.
Also, one difference could be the use of precision resistors for better CMRR on the DL251. However it is not simple to identify this visually.
