Here is the second and easier to install version of the Desktop Evolver VST editor. Its designed with Ableton Live in mind, though it should work in other VST hosts. Live doesn't transmit sysex data so I've made an application called UDP2, which channels sysex data to/from the plugin using the local network, and relays it to your MIDI interface, connected to your Evolver.

First you need to install the Pluggo demo.
http://www.cycling74.com/downloads/pluggo
put the MEDitor2.0.vst file in Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/Pluggo
connect your Evolver both in and out to your MIDI interface. open the UDP2 standalone application. Set the correct MIDI ports in the UDP application, to talk to your Evolver.
Load up your VST host and open an instance of MEDitor2.0.vst . The editor will send all its parameters to the evolver when it loads, so the first time you load it it will silence the evolver, until you change the evolvers program, and then the editor updates to show the state of the evolver. you can store evolver states as VST programs within your VST host, and recall them when you load a song for instance.
there is also a sequencer window , which has a normal piano roll sequencer for writing melodic patterns, if you so wish.
