THE OBERHEIM TVS PRO – A DUOPHONIC LEGEND, REBORN WITH MODERN POWER
In 1975, Tom Oberheim revolutionised synthesiser design with the original
TVS – Two Voice Synthesizer. By combining two
SEMs and a keyboard, he introduced true duophony to the world—enabling musicians to play two independent voices simultaneously and explore harmonically rich, evolving soundscapes. It was a bold step forward, embraced by visionaries including
Martin Gore,
Adrian Utley,
Peter Baumann,
Lorn,
The Prodigy, and
Nils Frahm.
Decades later, the
TVS Pro modernised that vision, adding a built-in sequencer, extended modulation, and refined controls—all while staying true to its unmistakable sonic DNA.
Now, with the
GForce Oberheim TVS Pro plugin, this landmark instrument enters a new era. Developed in collaboration with Oberheim, this recreation captures not only the depth, warmth and character of the original, but also the spirit of innovation that made it extraordinary.
Whether you’re a long-time
Oberheim fan or new to SEM-based synthesis,
TVS Pro is a tool you’ll return to again and again—for its tone, flexibility, and sheer playability.
AN UNMISTAKABLE SOUND THAT’S MORE THAN THE SUM OF ITS PARTS
At the heart of the
TVS Pro are two fully modelled
SEMs, each offering:
- Two VCOs with pulse and sawtooth waveforms
- The legendary Multi-Mode Filter
- Two ADS envelope generators
- One LFO
Every component has been carefully emulated to preserve the character and nuance of the original instrument—right down to the subtle analogue inconsistencies that gave it life. The result is the most faithful
SEM emulation available, wrapped in a duophonic architecture that allows for complex, organic interactions between voices. We’ve also added a 3rd VCO which can be an LFO too, velocity and aftertouch which weren’t on the hardware, per SEM.
We’ve even included over
400 converted patches from the
GForce SEM, alongside
220+ brand-new sounds—giving you immediate access to a world of characterful tones.
