With original late-70s Op-Amp Big Muffs selling for exorbitant prices, Mike Matthews decided to take the power to the people and reissue the classic pedal at a price that players could afford! The circuitry of the new Op-Amp Big Muff —sometimes also referred to as the IC or V4 Big Muff— has been faithfully re-created while several practical enhancements have been added including a compact, die-cast chassis and true bypass switching.

The pedal relies on op-amps rather than transistors and three gain stages rather than four, to create its signature sound. With the switch up, the wicker is engaged and high frequency bandwidth is opened up for a bright and clear top end and more pronounced attack. With the switch down, the effect is disengaged and the Big Muff circuit is back to stock.

+ Footswitch for MIDS EQ, доп переключатель для активации секции средних частот.

+ MIDS LEVEL Knob. Boosts or cuts up to +/- 10dB.
+ MIDS FREQ Knob. Sets the center frequency of the MIDS EQ circuit ranging from 310Hz to 5.0kHz.
+ MIDS Q Switch (HIGH/LOW) – The Q switch sets the resonance or bandwidth of the MIDS EQ.
What this means is in LOW mode the EQ sounds broader or rounder and affects a larger range of frequencies; in HIGH mode the EQ sounds sharper or peakier and affects a narrow range of frequencies.
+ The MIDS FREQ knob can be controlled by an external expression pedal or control voltage (CV).
Connect the external device to the EXP jack on the input side of the Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff. The position of the MIDS FREQ knob sets the toe position of the expression pedal or maximum frequency for CV. The heel position of the expression pedal equals the MIDS FREQ knob’s fully counter-clockwise position. Please see EXP Input below for more on the expression pedal.
+ INTERNAL INPUT BUFFER SWITCH & TRIM POTS
We have included an internal slide switch to engage a buffer on the input to the Big Muff circuit. Engaging this buffer will increase the high end content of both the distorted and clean signal being blended in. The slide switch is located near the input jack and is set to the “unbuffered” position at the factory. Be careful not to touch any other components when adjusting this switch.
+ The Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi’s MIDS EQ section has three trim pots for adjusting the following:
1) High Q bandwidth
2) High Q Output Volume
3) Overall MIDS EQ Output Volume.
We set these trim pots at the factory so that
1) HIGH Q mode is very resonant but does not self-oscillate
2) HIGH Q mode is just a bit louder than LOW Q mode
3) When engaged, MIDS EQ creates a slight volume boost over MIDS EQ bypassed for most settings of MIDS knobs.

The circa 1991 Sovtek “Civil War” Big Muff (dubbed that because of its blue and gray chassis) used the same circuit as the “Tall Font Green Russian” Big Muff and our EHX Green Russian Big Muff! Собирался взять переиздание Triangle Big Muff Pi (дабы получить "тот самый" звук), но в итоге соблазнился Big Muff Deluxe, поскольку там крутилок больше... Вот прям тот самый звук не получил (что вероятно ещё из-за датчиков и от того что на Гилморовской гитаре есть специальный свич, который добавляет нековый ко всем остальным комбинациям, ну и руки-крюки не те), но сам звук нравится, особенно с высоко-выхлопным датчиком в неке Seymour Duncan SHR-1. Ещё его хорошо подгружать дистами - тогда появляется характер самого диста в звуке (у меня стоят перед ним Donner Morpher - клон Suhr Riot и Xotic BB Plus) и он становится более пробивным и лучше звучащим.

Я собрал Russian Green Muff по оригинальной схеме с оригинальными транзисторами ) Обошлось все по цене около 1500 с учетом заказа платы, деталей и аллюминевого корпуса )

Вобщем, делай тестовые партии разных инструментов в wav 44.1kHz/24bit не менее минуты на каждую партию. В моно и в стерео плиз. У себя будешь прогонять с тех же вавок, что вышлешь мне.
Пиши в личку, когда нарисуешь wav.
От тебя контрольный прогон на своем самоделе:
1) громкость не более -3.5 дб в цап, тон на 0%, сустейн на 0%.
2) громкость также, тон на 0%, сустейн на 50%.
3) громкость также, тон на 0%, сустейн на 100%.

4) громкость также, тон на 50%, сустейн на 0%.
5) громкость также, тон на 50%, сустейн на 50%.
6) громкость также, тон на 50%, сустейн на 100%.

Что-нить популярное из инструментов, современного то бишь, без скрипок и прочего.

Если речь о Гилморе, то как известно он чаще использовал именно big muff ram’s head, а не big muff triangle.

А позже его эквипмент дополнился «русским», т.е. сейчас его можно купить в виде переиздания Green Russian Big Muff.

На мой взгляд, big muff ram’s head отличается небольшим провалом в средних частотах (отсюда также вытекает «больше баса»), относительно big muff triangle. Из-за чего он звучит более агрессивно и «прилизанно» как отдельно, так и в миксе. Тогда как у triangle более выделены средние частоты и соответственно больше «пердит» эта самая середина, и это самое четкое слово описывающее звук big muff triangle.

Да, у меня такой.
Конечно гилморовский звук из него не происходит, да и с триэнгла на рекламных демках нет того звука.
И вроде у Гилмора была крыса и подозреваю что он ей и грел фуз, ну и плюс звук головы добавлялся и ещё чего нибудь.
Я свой биг мафф грею дистом Donner Morpher (клон Suhr Riot) - сразу получается тело в звуке, а так он довольно рыхлый, но прикольно играть на нековом сдвинув тембр в сторону нижних частот, особенно с каким нибудь выхлопным датчиком, с который можно в широком диапазоне регулировать громкость и получать совсем разную структуру тембра (я использовал с Seymour Duncan SHR-1, но сейчас он пока снят, пробую другие датчики).

Да, кстати, недавно поставил на одну гитару в бридж "гилморовский" датчик Seymour Duncan SSL-5 - ещё не успел погонять свой педал-борд с биг-маффом - может с ним будет звук поближе, но я сильно не гоняюсь, хотя сама оригинальная запись тех же соляков в Comfortably Numb звучит вполне сбалансированно, но мне такой звук не особо нравится когда я играю под аналогичный минус, мне больше нравится чуть другой звук, более пробивной, с чуть более тела.

Это всё классно и вы большой молодец. Вышеупомянутый ресурс является неоспоримым авторитетом с энциклопедической точностью и колоссальной ценностью. Ведь информацию с ресурса применяли инженеры ehx для всех переизданий упомянутых в этой теме. Там также есть интимные подробности про звук Гилмора. Так что ...
Ehx big muff deluxe это не Гилмор, даже не близко) и тем более никакой не triangle, т.к. «пердит» он знатно))) Но на triangle можно смело играть Hendrix.

Да собственно я его взял как свой первый фузз в педал-борд, без особого стремления получить гилморовский звук.
Первый... не считая того, который я спаял в юношестве с германиевыми транзисторами, но оценить по достоинству не смог ибо играл тогда в усилитель от проигрывателя грампластинок и широкополосные колонки и о гитарных динамиках тогда и понятия не имел в виду их отстутствия в магазинах советского времени.

Хотел бы уточнить, что Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi и Green Russian Big Muff не взаимозаменяемы, не смотря на то что ehx сделали всё возможное при проектировании. По идее звук должен быть идентичным, когда на Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi выключена секция MID и выключен tone wicker. Но в звук проникает чистый сигнал даже когда ручка blend на максимум, и следовательно мы имеем больше низких частот в звуке. Для басистов видимо самое то))

Для понятия о чем речь, можно послушать игру с blend на максимум 2:10 - 3:25





Переключатель tone wicker спасает в случаях когда sustain в минимальных положениях, как это было при создании обычного deluxe big muff и его ручки attack. Подробнее про deluxe big muff тут http://www.kitrae.net/music/big_muff_history4.html
