I have remained pretty quiet about the iOS8 debacle. At first it was because it coincided with my mom’s fall and i wasn’t paying attention fully. Then I tried to understand it being a long-term computer user and thinking it was something that might clear up in a week or a month.. or at least way before they shipped new devices sporting the faulty iOS with no other alternative.
I realize there are bits and pieces that are working, but that is not snowballing into a general acceptable fix. So most recently I wrote some of the bigwig bloggers in our midst, having realized that posts about this extremely important overarching issue were noticeably absent in our news sources, and wondering WTF was really going on. Apparently all developers, serious bloggers and iOS news outlets are all being shut down by big brother’s policies and agreements that keep them from talking. It’s upsetting to hear (and upsetting to them as well).
BUT THAT ISNT ALL OF US!! WE CAN DO SOMETHING. I know there are a lot of you out there who WANT to do something. If we make videos, our community (if not he regular public and other musicians as well) may hear about the very bad position we have been suddenly thrust into.. though our hard earned money has been spent, there is no fix right now and it is not the fault of the developers. We see the devs as unresponsive, when actually they have been silenced. We suffer this ridiculous unacceptable mess after spending our money on devices and apps only to be put aside without a working iOS!! If they are building a better new architecture then they should have left the old one in place while they built it… NOT allow units to be sold that basically no longer work with all the programs they sold us.
Well by now you get the general idea..BUT HOW, HOW do we fight back? How do we get the word out?
YouTube. We can make videos… lots of videos… so many that people will see them.
We can help each other make videos. some of us have ios8 and know some of the bad issues, some of us can demo the harsh things about the latest ios7. some of us are video editors. even if you are not a great video personality, you too can demo ios8 messing up something. We can title all the videos: ____________”ios8 problems” with the first part naming the issue you are covering. so for example: “appX doesnt work in AB anymore: ios8 problems” . and it will get the word out hopefully enough so that when decisions get made in the future they will be less willing to be embarrassed by bad releases and hopefully vote to NOT DO IT!! We will NOT be cursing out apple in the vids, just showing the issues. Staying calm will bring sympathy to our cause and not see us as weird angry insane persons.
so What I want to know now is what skills do YOU have?? Please sign up to either make or edit a video below. Anyone on ios8 let us know. anyone seeing troubles on ios7 let us know here. i would like to see a video for every instance we can muster up. FEEL FREE to message me about this. I would love to see every person who loves our community here on iPad Musician step up to do this.
WE ARE NOT cursing out apple in these vids, we will be only showing examples of PROBLEMS and DEMO’ing them. “since iOS8 it is doing this” would be a good intro and then an explanation as you demo the problem and maybe a sentence or 2 of how it is supposed to work, that’s it!
