What is the difference between 8020A and 8020B?
In discontinued 8020A model had an additional output XLR connector which was replaced by the power switch in B model. In A model front volume potentiometer - when turned all the way counterclockwise - muted the speaker and shut off the LED. In B-model turning the pot all the way counterclockwise mutes the speaker but the LED stays lit. LED and the unit shuts off from the power switch at the back. This also enables turning the power off without changing the set level, as in all of our other products.
Also there are some changes in color: in white A model the tweeter grille was black but in new B model the grille is white. Sonically and structurally 8020A and 8020B are identical. The performance specs and DIP switch functionality all remain as before.
Often people ask about the product coding. The coding system described below applies to most of the products. There are some older models where this does not necessarily apply (i.e. S30):
i.e. 8040APM
• 1st digit describes the product category
• 2nd digit describes the technology: 0=analog, 1=digital, 2=DSP (SAM concept)
• 3rd digit describes the bass driver size: 0=2", 1=3", 2=4", 3=5", 4=6", 5=8", 6=10", 7=12", 8=15"
• 4th digit is a running product code
• 5th letter after code describes the product version
• next letters describe the channel symmetry (if applicable): L=Left, C=Center, R=Right
• next letters describe the color and often after that a letter M=magnetic shielding (note that all aluminum enclosure models are equipped with magnetic shielding): PM=Producer Black (dark greyish), MM=Mystic Black, W=White
