Drag and drop from an app to the ArchCommander makes the items packed to the selected folder of the archive that is currently open.
Drag and drop from the ArchCommander is fully supported by the targets (the app to which you drag) that support the mechanism of ‘file promises’ – the Finder supports it, but a lot of other apps do not. To handle such apps, you need to first get the file into a local cache (that will download it) by previewing it with Quick Look (press Space) and only then drag and drop it to the target app.
The operation performed during drag and drop is always a copy operation.
